Mudge Island is located between Gabriola Island and Vancouver Island near Nanaimo. There are 60 permanent residents on Mudge Island. This number blossoms to 200 residents during the summer months. 

Mudge Island was settled in the 1880’s. There is no industry on Mudge Island. There is no ferry service to Mudge Island. There is a private marina on the Island that permits boat docking for a small fee. 

Mudge Island is only 4 kilometres long yet this unique gem has power, cable, and telephone. There are several dirt roads on Mudge Island. Most people get around on foot or on bicycle. Some residents have barged vehicles to the Island. There is an increasing number of golf carts on Mudge Island. 

There are no services on Mudge Island. There are several artisans and home base businesses. Most people commute to Gabriola Island or Nanaimo for work and for all services.
