Honeymoon Bay is located on the south shores of Lake Cowichan, 40 kilometres west of Duncan. Honeymoon Bay is home to 600 permanent residents. 

Honeymoon Bay was first settled in the 1880’s. The community’s golf course sits on the original farm. The majority of the community was built in the late 1940’s to provide housing for loggers and millworkers. The mill operated until 1981. Today, although Honeymoon Bay has some tourism related jobs, most people commute to Duncan or other communities for work. 

Honeymoon Bay is a popular summer destination. There are great hiking and mountain biking trails, golfing, and fishing. Honeymoon Bay is a popular place for swimming and waterskiing. Honeymoon Bay Ecological Reserve, formerly known as Honeymoon Bay Wildflower Reserve, has many easy walking trails to enjoy the abundance of wildflowers. Not to be missed are six murals at the community hall depicting life in Honeymoon Bay. 

Services are minimal in Honeymoon Bay. Lake Cowichan or Duncan are an easy commute for all the services you might require. Honeymoon Bay has an elementary school, a church, gas station, general store, butcher shop, and hair salon. There is a market every Saturday during the summer months. There is also a cafe and a pub.
